Getty Images Celebrates Sports Photographers Triumph at Prestigious Sven-Simon-Preis Awards

Munich – February 5, 2024: Getty Images (NYSE: GETY), a preeminent global visual content creator and marketplace, celebrates the success of its sports photographers at Germany’s prestigious 2023 Sven‑Simon‑Preis.
Alexander Hassenstein took home the “Sports Photo of the Year” prize for his “Sunny Shiffrin” image of American ski racer Mikaela Shiffrin competing in the giant slalom in Solden, marking the sixth consecutive year that a Getty Images photographer has won the award. Adam Pretty was awarded second place for his “Synchronized Perfection” image at the World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka, Japan.
Now in its 25th year, the Sven‑Simon‑Preis is one of Germany’s most prestigious sports photography awards held by leading national newspaper Welt am Sonntag. The prize is named after Sven Simon (born Axel Springer Jr), a photojournalist and former editor‑in‑chief of Welt.
