GETTY IMAGES’ PHOTOGRAPHERS RECOGNIZED AT NPPA BEST OF PHOTOJOURNALISM COMPETITION

New York – March 22, 2021: Four Getty Images’ photographers have received top honors at NPPA Best of Photojournalism competition, winning six awards across news and sport categories, with three first place wins. 

The 2021 winners include:

John Moore took first place in the Breaking News Story for his work capturing first responders on the front lines throughout the pandemic in the Tri‑state area. He also took home first place and honorable mention in the Contemporary Issues and Contemporary Issues Story categories, respectively, for his work documenting the COVID eviction crisis in Maricopa County, Arizona.

Mario Tama took first place in the Contemporary Issues Story category for his work documenting the pandemic’s toll on the Latino community in Los Angeles, California.

Al Bello was awarded an honorable mention in the Sports Feature category for his working capturing pandemic workouts, both virtually and socially‑distanced in Long Island, New York.

Ezra Acayan took third place in the Breaking News Story category for his work documenting the Taal Volcano eruption in the Philippines.
